The Mississippi Auctioneers Association (MAA) is currently accepting applications for the Mississippi Auctioneers Association Scholarship through December 1. The scholarship awards tuition and/or fees credit of a select auction school to a qualified future auctioneer.

MAA established a scholarship in 2016 to encourage qualified individuals to become successful auctioneers in an effort to ensure the integrity of the auction industry. The scholarship is funded by donations from members of the MAA.

The scholarship will be awarded to an individual or individuals who demonstrate a financial need, a sincere interest in becoming a licensed auctioneer and plans to participate in the auction industry as an auctioneer. Applicants must meet certain requirements and recipients will be chosen by the MAA.

The state of Mississippi currently requires 80 hours of education at an auction school approved by the Mississippi Auctioneer Commission. Currently, there is not an approved auctioneer school in Mississippi. As a result, the cost to attend such a school is often a setback for many individuals who wish to pursue a career as an auctioneer.
