Officers elected to serve third term; Rogers elected to MAA Board

There was a lot of fast talking going on at the Mississippi Auctioneers Association’s annual convention held April 29 in D’Iberville.

The Association voted for officer positions for 2018. Forest native and Nanih Waiya resident Courtney Jo Weaver was re-elected as president to serve a third term. Henry Redmond of Poplarville and Brett Hollingsworth of Forest, were also named to third terms as vice president and secretary/treasurer, respectively. Eric Rogers of Perkinston was elected to the Association’s Board of Directors.

The annual conference is the most anticipated event of the MAA’s year, as auction professionals across the state gather together to hear world class guest speakers, network with like-minded professionals, elect officers and board members, attend and compete in the spectacular bid-calling competition known as the Mississippi State Auctioneer Championship. Bidders helped to raise hundreds of dollars to be donated to the Blaire E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson. When the final gavel fell, Courtney Jo Weaver took home the top honor as the 2018 Mississippi State Champion Auctioneer, after a tie run-off with Henry Redmond who finished as Reserve Champion. Eric Rogers of Perkinston was awarded the distinction of Mississippi Rookie Auctioneer Champion.
