William L. Head throws first pitch at M-Braves game.

MAA Past President William L. Head had the honor of throwing the first pitch at the Mississippi Braves game against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Friday, August 19 as the designated Pink Tie Guy for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Head was escorted onto the field by other foundation members and M-Braves officials. He greeted the crowd in his pink shirt with a wave before launching the ball towards the catcher. In attendance to cheer him on were fellow members of the Mississippi Auctioneers Association attending the event for the organization’s Summer Social.

Pink Tie Guys are partners in the Komen promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever. The Pink Tie Guys are leaders who attest to the powerful fact that breast cancer is a disease that knows no boundaries and who bring a male voice to the urgency of finding the cures. These men are not afraid to wear pink, for they know pink is a symbol of hope, courage, strength and survivorship.
